FALLING APPLES

The lives of thirteen people unfold in an epic landscape of intimate moments. They meet and slide apart, fall and rise. Everyone looking for a solid ground while asking themselves how can we stand on our own two feet when we know nothing about the foundations? "Falling Apples" is a Chekhovian tale from our time.

Anna and Nikolai are siblings and live very different lives. One of them is the heir to their parents farm, the other lives in Italy restoring rwnaissance paintings. Their life and expectations suddenly changes when their parens are in a car accident. Many people are also affected by the accident in various ways.

"Falling Apples" is about finding meaning in life when the parent who always sort things out, disappear. Why do people do their choices: What expectations about life, love and work, about the present and the future, do these young people have, and why? Will the meetings between them change anything? Falling Apples presents a world in miniature where you only survive if you choose to party rather than cry.

"Falling Apples" is a text for an ensemble with thirteen equal roles. The text is has flexible movements in time and space, and alternation between larger ensemble sequences and short dialogues and monologues. A web of events in a mix of both with theatrical more realistic parts contain both the subtle and deep seriousness.

Epilogue to the novel "Falling Apples" (In norwegian)

"It is a very rare gift for any director to be given the opportunity for such a beautifully crafted script, with so much room for creativity and performance expansion. The best stories we tell in the theater carry with them a secret truth, and Falling Apples is elegant and compelling, opening up a subconscious journey of discovery."
