I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS BEEN ON THE MOON
This is the story of Månen (The Moon), a young man who lives in the streets of Oslo.
He is like most young people, with thoughts and opinions about most things. And, he's addicted to heroin.
Månen is closely followed around by his girlfriend Bonnie, who so desperately needs a role model. His big sister, Sara, follows him as older sisters do: two steps ahead and one step behind. The slightly older Gaupa watches over the herd, while father and mother, teacher and prison officer do their best to show Månen the reality. But Månen knows that the streets have it's own life. All he needs is a boat. And an ocean.
How are the conditions of drug addicts in Norway today? What makes you feel left out from the inclusive society in Norway? Why do we humans end up in situations where we no longer have control? What does democracy and freedom of speech mean to people living on the streets?
This plays aims to create a greater understanding of the outsiders. The performance has been created through research among Oslo's drug addicts and the various institutions and organizations that work with and for them.
BACKROUND
The most important work for the acting class at Nord University, is their final theatre production at the end of their education. The class of 2014 worked with three different projects on the subject democracy, "Jeg er den eneste som har vært på Månen" was one of them and for this performance the four acting students moved to Oslo and Dramatikkens Hus for the occasion.
In addition to the performance, Lene Therese Teigen led a conversation with Torstein Bjordal from the Association for Human Drug Policy and playwright Toril Solvang.
